Product Description

Permatex Form-A-Gasket No. 1 Sealant is a hard-setting, semi-flexible gasket sealant for permanent rigid flanges, threaded connections and gasketed assemblies. The single-part viscous paste cures by solvent evaporation and can be used with new or existing gaskets as well as flange and fitting interfaces. Assemblies are operational after 2 hours, while full cure is effective after 24 hours. The cured sealant has a continuous temperature range of -54 to 204 deg C and retains effective properties in contact with water, ethylene glycol, non-ethanol gasoline, motor oil, transmission fluid and sea water.

Key features

  • Hard-setting solvent-evaporation cure: The viscous paste cures to a hard, semi-flexible seal by solvent evaporation.
  • 2-hour return to operation: Assemblies are operational after 2 hours; full cure is effective after 24 hours.
  • -54 to 204 deg C continuous range: The cured sealant is rated for continuous temperature exposure from -54 to 204 deg C.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.
