PERMABOND 735

Main features

  • Toughened Impact and Peel Resistance
  • Extended Metal Alignment Window
  • Black Visual Bondline Identification

Product Description

PERMABOND 735 is a black, toughened ethyl cyanoacrylate adhesive developed for joints that need more impact and peel resistance than a conventional cyanoacrylate. Typical viscosity is 100 to 200 mPa s at 25 deg C with a maximum gap fill of 0.15 mm. Its deliberately longer fixture time on metals provides additional alignment time before the joint sets, while rubber and phenolic surfaces fixture more rapidly. The cured adhesive reaches typical steel shear strength of 24 to 30 N/mm^2, peel strength of 40 to 60 N/25 mm, and impact strength of 5 to 10 kJ/m^2.

Key features

  • Toughened Impact and Peel Performance: Typical cured properties include 40 to 60 N/25 mm peel strength and 5 to 10 kJ/m^2 impact strength.
  • Longer Alignment Window: Metal fixture times of about 30 to 50 seconds provide more time for accurate alignment.
  • Black Visual Bondline Identification: The adhesive is supplied black for assemblies where a dark bondline is preferred.

Applications

Bonding metals, plastics, and elastomers where a toughened instant adhesive with improved impact and peel performance is required.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
