LORD 606

Main features

  • 5-7 Minute Mixed Working Window
  • 10:1 Accelerator 17 Volume Mix
  • DCPD Composite-to-Metal Bonding

Product Description

LORD 606 is the white to off-white acrylic adhesive component used with LORD Accelerator 17 in a two-part system for DCPD and modified-DCPD FRP, including cross-bonding composites to metals. The component has typical viscosity of 100,000-300,000 cP at 25 deg C and density of 1,042-1,162 kg/m3. The mixed system uses a 10:1 adhesive-to-accelerator volume ratio, has a 5-7 minute working time, and reaches handling strength in 16-24 minutes. Complete cure requires 8-24 hours depending on temperature and bondline thickness, and the mixed adhesive remains non-sag on vertical or overhead surfaces.

Key features

  • Component Rheology: The LORD 606 component has a typical viscosity of 100,000 to 300,000 cP at 25 deg C.
  • System Mixing: The LORD 606/Accelerator 17 system uses a 10:1 ratio by volume.
  • Vertical Application: The mixed system remains in position on vertical and overhead surfaces.

Applications

DCPD and modified-DCPD FRP bonding, including cross-bonding composites to metals.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
100,000 - 300,000 mPa.s
Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
15 °C
Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
