LORD 201/17

Main features

  • 10:1 Volume Mix Ratio
  • 5- to 8-Minute Working Time
  • 31.7 MPa 6061-T6 Aluminum Lap Shear

Product Description

LORD 201/Accelerator 17 is a two-part acrylic adhesive system for structural bonding of prepared or unprepared metals and plastics. LORD 201 is mixed with Accelerator 17 at a 10:1 volume ratio. At 24 deg C, the mixed system has a typical 5- to 8-minute working time and reaches handling strength in 12 to 16 minutes; complete cure takes 24 hours at room temperature. The adhesive is self-leveling and can be dispensed from handheld cartridges or meter/mix/dispense equipment. Typical 6061-T6 aluminum lap shear is 31.7 MPa after a 24 hr room-temperature cure with a 0.010 in film.

Key features

  • System Mixing: LORD 201 and Accelerator 17 are mixed at 10:1 by volume.
  • Mixed-System Work Time: Typical working time is 5 to 8 minutes at 24 deg C.
  • Aluminum Lap Shear: Typical lap shear is 31.7 MPa on 6061-T6 aluminum after a 24 hr room-temperature cure with a 0.010 in film.

Applications

Structural bonding of metals, ceramics, and plastics, including prepared or unprepared metal surfaces and irregular shapes where self-leveling application is useful.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
