LOCTITE AA 331

Main features

  • Rapid Activator-Assisted Fixture
  • High-Strength Metal Bonding
  • Magnet Assembly Impact Resistance

Product Description

LOCTITE AA 331 is a one-component, medium-viscosity modified acrylic structural adhesive for metal bonding, including permanent-magnet and electric-motor assemblies. The adhesive is supplied separately from LOCTITE SF 7387 activator, which is required for room-temperature cure. On grit-blasted mild steel with single-side activator, fixture is 17 seconds at a 0.05 mm gap and lap shear is 13.8 N/mm^2 after 24 hours at 23 deg C. The cured adhesive develops peel, impact, and magnet-bond strength; values depend on activator placement, bondline gap, surface preparation, and cure conditions.

Key features

  • Rapid activator-assisted fixture: Fixture is 17 seconds at a 0.05 mm gap on grit-blasted mild steel at 23 deg C with Activator 7387 on one side.
  • Steel lap shear strength: Lap shear is 13.8 N/mm^2 after 24 hours at 23 deg C on grit-blasted mild steel with a 0.05 mm gap and Activator 7387 on one side.
  • Ferrite-to-steel bond strength: Ferrite-to-mild-steel block shear is 12 N/mm^2 after 48 hours at 23 deg C with a 0.05 mm gap and Activator 7387 on both sides.

Applications

Metal-to-metal structural bonding, including DC motor/magnet bonding and precoated sheet-metal assemblies.
