LOCTITE 5810F

Main features

  • Silicone-Free Powertrain Flange Sealing
  • Heavy-Body Pre-Cure Leak Testing
  • Oil-Resistant Polyacrylate Gasketing

Product Description

LOCTITE 5810F is a one-component, silicone-free, oxime-free polyacrylate form-in-place gasket sealant for flange sealing in powertrain and electronic housings. The black thixotropic paste cures with atmospheric moisture at room temperature and uses a heavy-body viscosity profile intended for online low-air-pressure testing before cure. Its non-silicone resin does not promote foaming in lubricants and has excellent resistance to powertrain fluids, with the product primarily intended for oil-resistant flange sealing. Typical as-supplied values include specific gravity of 1.25 to 1.45 at 20 deg C and an extrusion rate of 25 to 85 g/min at 0.6 MPa and 25 deg C. Typical cured properties after one week at 25 deg C and 50 +/- 5% RH include at least 150% elongation and at least 1.0 N/mm^2 tensile strength.

Key features

  • Silicone-free polyacrylate: One-component, oxime-free formulation for form-in-place gasket sealing.
  • Pre-cure leak testing: Heavy-body viscosity is designed for online low-air-pressure tests before cure.
  • Powertrain fluid resistance: Non-silicone resin is oil resistant and has excellent resistance to powertrain fluids.

Applications

Form-in-place gasketing and sealing of cast metal, stamped steel, and molded plastic covers, including engine, transmission, axle, and electronic housings.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Storage Temperature
8 °C to 21 °C
Thermal Properties
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg)
The glass transition temperature for organic adhesives is a temperature region where the polymers change from glassy and brittle to soft and rubbery. Increasing the temperature further continues the softening process as the viscosity drops too. Temperatures between the glass transition temperature and below the decomposition point of the adhesive are the best region for bonding. The glass-transition temperature Tg of a material characterizes the range of temperatures over which this glass transition occurs.
-45 °C
Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
