LOCTITE 5772

Main features

  • Activator-Free Stainless Steel Sealing
  • Low-Halogen Sensitive-Metal Formulation
  • UV-Fluorescent Product Identification

Product Description

LOCTITE 5772 is a one-part, medium-strength anaerobic thread sealant developed for sensitive metal threaded fittings where low halogen and sulfur content are important. The yellow thixotropic liquid is particularly suitable for stainless steel and can be used without surface activation on stainless steel. Chlorine and fluorine content are no more than 200 ppm, and sulfur content is no more than 200 ppm. At 25 deg C, typical specific gravity is 1.09 and typical cone-and-plate viscosity is 3,000 to 12,000 mPa s at 36 s^-1. After 24 hours at 22 deg C, typical breakaway torque is 6.4 N m on M10 stainless steel nuts and bolts and 17 N m on M10 black-oxide steel fasteners by ISO 10964.

Key features

  • Activator-free stainless-steel sealing: Particularly suitable for stainless steel without the need for surface activation.
  • Low halogen and sulfur content: Chlorine and fluorine content are no more than 200 ppm, with sulfur content no more than 200 ppm.
  • UV fluorescence: The yellow product fluoresces under UV light in the uncured state.

Applications

Sealing metal threaded fittings, including sensitive metals such as stainless steel and titanium where low halogen and sulfur content are required.

Dimethacrylate ester
Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.
1.09
Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
