LOCTITE 572

Main features

  • Medium-Strength Thread Locking
  • Thixotropic Migration Control
  • Metal Pipe and Fitting Sealing

Product Description

LOCTITE 572 is a medium-strength, thixotropic dimethacrylate sealant for threaded metal pipes and fittings. Its rheology reduces liquid migration after application, and the material cures anaerobically when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces. At 25 deg C, typical specific gravity is 1.25; typical Brookfield RVT viscosity is 28,800 to 77,000 mPa s at 2.5 rpm and 14,400 to 28,600 mPa s at 20 rpm with spindle 6. After 24 hours at 22 deg C, typical breakaway torque is 7 N m on M10 steel nuts and bolts, while breakloose torque reaches 20 N m when the same fasteners are pre-torqued to 5 N m, both by ISO 10964.

Key features

  • Reduced liquid migration: Thixotropic rheology reduces liquid product migration after application.
  • Medium-strength locking: Anaerobic cure provides medium-strength locking and sealing of close-fitting metal threads.
  • Steel fastener breakaway torque: Typical M10 steel fastener breakaway torque is 7 N m after 24 hours at 22 deg C by ISO 10964.

Applications

Locking and sealing threaded metal pipes and fittings.

Dimethacrylate ester
Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.
1.25
Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Thermal Properties
Thermal Conductivity
Thermal conductivity describes the ability of a material to conduct heat. It is required by power packages in order to dissipate heat and maintain stable electrical performance. Thermal conductivity units are [W/(m K)] in the SI system and [Btu/(hr ft °F)] in the Imperial system.
