LOCTITE 5039

Main features

  • Deep Light-Cure Gasketing
  • Shadow-Area Moisture Cure
  • Continuous-Bead Semi-Flowable Application

Product Description

LOCTITE SI 5039 is a one-component, semi-flowable acetoxy silicone adhesive and sealant with UV/visible primary cure and secondary moisture cure for shadowed areas. Its flow characteristics facilitate even knit lines and continuous beads for cure-in-place gasketing, bonding and sealing. Under specified 365 nm exposure, the material reaches a tack-free surface in 20 seconds or less and a light-cure depth of at least 10 mm after 60 seconds. The light-yellow translucent paste forms an elastomer with Shore A hardness of 32 to 48 and elongation of at least 150% after the stated cure.

Key features

  • Deep light cure: Depth of cure is at least 10 mm after 60 seconds at 70 mW/cm^2 and 365 nm.
  • Shadow-area cure: Atmospheric moisture provides the secondary cure mechanism in shadowed regions.
  • Continuous-bead flow: Semi-flowable behavior facilitates even knit lines and continuous beads.

Applications

Cure-in-place gasketing, bonding and sealing where light cure and moisture cure in shadowed areas are useful.

Chemistry Type
Acetoxy dual cure silicone

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
