LOCTITE 2432

Main features

  • Activation-Free Stainless Threadlocking
  • Low-Migration Thixotropic Application
  • Controlled Halogen and Sulfur Content

Product Description

LOCTITE 2432 is a one-part, blue, medium-strength thixotropic anaerobic threadlocker for locking and sealing threaded fasteners. It cures when confined without air between close-fitting metal surfaces and is especially suitable for stainless steel without surface activation. Thixotropic flow reduces migration after application, and the uncured liquid fluoresces under UV light. Chlorine and fluorine content and sulfur content are each controlled to 200 ppm maximum. After 24 hours at 22 deg C, M10 black-oxide steel fasteners develop 17 N m breakaway torque and 6 N m prevail torque. Applications include stainless and other supported metal fasteners, including sensitive-metal assemblies.

Key features

  • Stainless steel assembly: Suitable for stainless steel without surface activation and removable with standard hand tools.
  • Thixotropic application control: Medium thixotropic flow reduces migration of liquid after application.
  • Controlled halogen and sulfur: Chlorine plus fluorine content and sulfur content are each 200 ppm maximum.

Applications

Applications include locking and sealing threaded fasteners, stainless-steel assemblies, and sensitive-metal threaded connections requiring controlled halogen and sulfur content.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.
1.08
Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
