Harmonization Code : 3907.30.00.40 | Epoxy Mold Compounds containing by weight more than 70 % silicon dioxide

EPOCAP 49174

Main features

  • 55,000 cP Part A Viscosity
  • 100:30 49174/59174 Weight Mix
  • Electrical Potting System Component

Product Description

EPOCAP 49174 Part A is the black resin component of the EPOCAP 49174/59174 electrical potting and encapsulation system. At 25 deg C, Part A has a typical viscosity of 55,000 cP and specific gravity of 1.69. In the paired system, 49174 Part A combines with amber 59174 Part B at 100:30 by weight or 100:50 by volume. The mixed system is used for room-temperature potting of tightly wound coils, transformers, time-delay relays, and low- or medium-voltage devices. Cured-system properties apply to the complete 49174/59174 system rather than Part A alone.

Key features

  • Part A Viscosity: Typical viscosity is 55,000 cP at 25 deg C, with specific gravity of 1.69 for the black resin component.
  • 49174/59174 Mix Ratio: The paired system uses 100:30 by weight or 100:50 by volume.
  • Electrical Potting System Component: The 49174/59174 system is used for coils, transformers, time-delay relays, and low- or medium-voltage devices.

Applications

Part A resin for the 49174/59174 electrical potting and encapsulation system used with coils, transformers, time-delay relays, and low- or medium-voltage devices.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
