DOWSIL EA-2900

Main features

  • 10-Minute Assembly Strength
  • 400% Cured Elongation
  • 17.1 kV/mm Dielectric Strength

Product Description

DOWSIL EA-2900 Sealant White is a one-part, white, neutral alkoxy-cure RTV silicone adhesive for bonding and sealing PCB assembly components and optical parts in LED lamps and luminaires. Sufficient adhesion strength is reached after 10 minutes to continue assembly; aluminum lap shear at that point is 4 kPa. Typical tack-free time is 20 minutes at 23 deg C and 50% RH, and extrusion rate is 190 g/min. After 7 days at 23 deg C and 50% RH, the cured elastomer has 400% elongation at break and 2.1 MPa tensile strength. Unprimed lap-shear data are provided for aluminum, glass, polycarbonate, PMMA, and molded silicone.

Key features

  • Early assembly strength: Sufficient adhesion strength is reached after 10 minutes to continue assembly; aluminum lap shear at that point is 4 kPa.
  • Extrusion rate: Typical extrusion rate is 190 g/min.
  • Conditioned cured elongation: Elongation at break is 400% after 7 days at 23 deg C and 50% RH.

Applications

Bonding and sealing PCB assembly components and devices; assembling optical parts into LED lamps and luminaires.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.

Volume Resistivity
Volume resistivity, also called volume resistance, bulk resistance or bulk resistivity is a thickness dependent measurement of the resistivity of a material perpendicular to the plane of the surface.
