CONATHANE MR-5016

Main features

  • Low-Viscosity Mold Release Application
  • 100% Solids Silicone System
  • 12-Month Shelf Life

Product Description

CONAP MR-5016 Mold Release Agent is a low-viscosity silicone-polymer liquid release and parting agent for potting, casting, and molding operations. The clear, 100% solids material has an approximate viscosity of 225 cP at 25 deg C and specific gravity of approximately 0.97. Its flash point is above 201 deg F, and the product has a 12-month shelf life under the stated storage conditions. Applications include release of epoxy, polyurethane, polyester, and other plastic or resin systems from non-porous molds, including simple and complex mold geometries.

Key features

  • Low-viscosity release: Approximate viscosity is 225 cP at 25 deg C for liquid mold-release application.
  • 100% solids silicone system: Clear silicone-polymer material with approximately 0.97 specific gravity.
  • 12-month shelf life: Shelf life is 12 months under the stated storage conditions.

Applications

Mold release for epoxy, polyurethane, polyester, and other plastic or resin systems from non-porous molds.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
>94 °C
