ARALDITE AW9102

Main features

  • Approximately 80-Minute Pot Life at 25 deg C
  • 100:40 Resin-to-Hardener Weight Mix
  • 3,625 psi Steel Lap Shear

Product Description

ARALDITE AW 9102 CI is the epoxy resin component of the ARALDITE AW 9102 CI / HW 9102 CI two-component structural adhesive system. The resin has a viscosity of 10,000 to 17,000 cP at 25 deg C and combines with HW 9102 CI at 100:40 parts by weight. The 100 g mixed system has approximately 80 minutes of pot life at 25 deg C. Typical lap shear after a 2-hour cure at 70 deg C is 2,900 psi on aluminum and 3,625 psi on 45# steel. Applications include metals, aluminum honeycomb, ceramics, sandstone, and fireproof panels.

Key features

  • 100:40 weight mix ratio: AW 9102 CI resin and HW 9102 CI hardener combine at 100:40 parts by weight.
  • Approximately 80-minute pot life: A 100 g mixed system has approximately 80 minutes of pot life at 25 deg C.
  • Metal lap shear: Typical lap shear is 2,900 psi on aluminum and 3,625 psi on 45# steel after the documented 2-hour cure at 70 deg C.

Applications

Bonding metals, aluminum honeycomb, ceramics, sandstone, and fireproof panels within the AW 9102 CI / HW 9102 CI system.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
