ALPHA PF-2

Main features

  • 1.9 wt% Solids Content
  • Spray-Only Flux Application
  • ORL0 Flux Classification

Product Description

ALPHA PF-2 is a low-solids, halide-free, rosin/resin-free no-clean liquid flux formulated for spray application in nitrogen-inerted wave soldering. Typical as-supplied values include 1.9 wt% solids, specific gravity of 0.785 to 0.791 at 25 deg C, and a 360-day shelf life, with IPC J-STD-004 designation ORL0. Typical spray loading is 80 to 400 ug/cm^2 of solids, with 60 to 120 deg C top-side preheat and 1 to 5 seconds of solder contact time.

Key features

  • Spray-only flux application: The formulation is intended for spray methods, with a typical loading of 80 to 400 ug/cm^2 of solids.
  • 1.9 wt% solids content: The measured solids level defines the low-solids no-clean flux formulation.
  • IPC flux classification: J-STD-004 designation is ORL0 for the halide-free, rosin/resin-free flux.

Applications

Nitrogen-inerted wave soldering with spray-flux application.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
12 °C
