3M DP805

Main features

  • 1:1 Acrylic Mixing
  • 3 to 4-Minute Work Life
  • 2,000 psi at 30 Minutes

Product Description

3M Scotch-Weld Acrylic Adhesive DP805 is a toughened, non-sag two-part acrylic adhesive for structural bonding of metals, ceramics, wood, and most plastics. Base and accelerator mix 1:1 by volume or weight. At 23 deg C, typical work life is 3 to 4 minutes in a static mixing nozzle, and set time is 7 to 10 minutes to reach 0.3 MPa overlap shear. Applied open time is approximately 3 minutes. Typical full cure takes 8 to 24 hours at 23 deg C, using a criterion of at least 80% of ultimate aluminum-to-aluminum overlap shear. Typical cured Shore D hardness is 79 at 23 deg C.

Key features

  • 3 to 4-minute work life: This typical maximum static-mixer residence interval applies at 23 deg C; applied open time is approximately 3 minutes.
  • Non-sag component rheology: Typical viscosities at 23 deg C are 75,000 cP for the base and 150,000 cP for the accelerator by Brookfield RVF, spindle 7 at 20 rpm.
  • Shore D 79 cured hardness: This typical cured-material value is measured at 23 deg C by ASTM D2240.

Applications

HVAC and appliance metalworking; specialty vehicles; sign manufacturing; bonding plastics, composites, and powder coats to metal.

Volume Resistivity
Volume resistivity, also called volume resistance, bulk resistance or bulk resistivity is a thickness dependent measurement of the resistivity of a material perpendicular to the plane of the surface.

Thermal Properties
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg)
The glass transition temperature for organic adhesives is a temperature region where the polymers change from glassy and brittle to soft and rubbery. Increasing the temperature further continues the softening process as the viscosity drops too. Temperatures between the glass transition temperature and below the decomposition point of the adhesive are the best region for bonding. The glass-transition temperature Tg of a material characterizes the range of temperatures over which this glass transition occurs.
60 °C
